Celebrating Young Writers

January 11 at11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Calling all young writers—extreme youth no barrier— to celebrate their work at 57th Street Books.  Adult guidance and assistance for any part of the writing or production process warmly welcomed.

At 57th Street Books

RSVP HERE (Please note your RSVP is requested but not required)

For those writers who’d like some guidance, we’ve prepared a “How to Write a Book” pamphlet, copies of which are available at the 57th Street Books register.  If the author would be comfortable reading (or reciting) an excerpt for a minute or two, that would be fabulous. We would, in addition, love to hear biographies and dedications, also discussed in the pamphlet, and anything else you might think of, including:
•  An ISBN, a 13-digit number, assigned to every book, starting with 978.  You could, for example, create your own ISBN by adding to the 978 your 10-digit telephone number.
•  An explanation behind the choice of title, cover art, or nom de plume.
•  Any other part of a book’s anatomy, such as table of contents, glossary, epigraph, etc.

Some writers will, of course, rather not read aloud, in which case you might ask if they’d be comfortable telling the group the name of their book and receiving a round of applause?  But if, like J.D. Salinger, they prefer to exist free of public acknowledgment, that is also fine, and they will surely grow to be rich and famous.

The event begins at 11:30 on January 11, right after our regularly-scheduled storyhour.  It will end with an autographing.
